There are a couple of sure things in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky when summer begins to fade into fall. One, the Cincinnati Reds aren’t likely to be in the hunt for the playoffs, two, the Cincinnati Bengals are still undefeated in the regular season (Since it hasn’t started yet!) three, the WEBN Fireworks will soon light up the night sky and fourth, storm damage is coming.

There is one other that’s not nearly as funny…fall storms.

An Ounce of Storm Damage Prevention

Whether it’s wind or water damage, fall storms can cost thousand of dollars to repair and create a great deal of stress for you and your family. One of the ways you can reduce your risk is to do some simple preparation. As mom used to say, “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.”

Here are some things you can do to reduce the impact of a big storm can have on your home and your family.

  1. Change the batteries in your flashlights. Just because you loose power doesn’t mean you have to be in the dark.
  2. Test your sump pump. You don’t want to find out during a water emergency that your sump pump has given up the ghost. If you don’t have a battery back up, you may want to consider that as well.
  3. Vendor Check. Take time to check into what Roofer you would use should you need one. Some other categories to pre-screen are Restoration Companies, Plumbers and Electricians.
  4. Displacement Plan. If you had to be out of your home for 90 days, where would you go. Hotel living might have been fun for Uncle Joe at the Shady Rest, but can you imagine 3 months in 200 sq ft?

What if You’re Displaced by Storm Damage to Your Home?

Guests stay at Valley View for a myriad of reasons ranging from Corporate travel to homes that sell too fast. One of the other reasons is having been displaced due to a storm or other accident. Our guests enjoy fully furnished 2 and 3 bedroom condos with all the amenities of home, such as full sized appliances and dedicated internet (you don’t share a public Wi-Fi signal).

As much as any reason, guests consistently comment on how convenient our location is to most everything of interest in the Greater Cincinnati area. So if you find yourself and your family displaced for any reason this fall, give us a call and we’ll give you a temporary, yet comfortable, place to call home.
